Minato looked ahead towards the Hokage Monument, “If I look back far enough, I can see the river just beyond the monument, flowing, giving us water during the drought. I can see Kushina cooking dinner in our kitchen—we just moved in together, y’know. I can see the village full of the people I swear to protect—”
“Whatever—”
“Even if,” Minato grabbed the top of Kakashi’s head with his fingers and turned it towards the village, “they don’t always understand what I do to protect them.”

“Jesus,” Gaz muttered under his breath from their newfound perch on the hill. His eyes trailed along the skyline, a look of complete and terrified awe, crossing his face and his voice was filled with defeat. He shook his head in disbelieving despair, “Tha’s got to be all o’ Manchester.”
Their eyes stole glances towards Ghost in an attempt to gauge his response. He stood next to them, shoulder to shoulder, overlooking the complete burning of his city.
