Summary
As the identical twin children of a self-obsessed "mommy vlogger," Matthew and Alfred were no strangers to self-preservation. Under their mother's roof, family was performance and choice was an illusion. It was all they had ever known, until they were suddenly thrust into a world without her.
Decades later, the two have chosen separate paths.
In Los Angeles, Alfred spends his days under the buzzing lights of movie sets, on talk show couches and press tours. He stays booked and keeps busy, because when he isn't on set, things fall apart.
Matthew's days are much slower, but he finds great comfort in the relative anonymity of his role at an up-and-coming publishing house based in Philadelphia. He's good at what he does, but people? Relationships? Not his strongest suit.
From opposite ends of the country, they each cling desperately to the life they've made, and the proof that their stories hadn't ended in that prison their mother called a home.

Summary
Everyone knew who he was. Teachers, students, people at the grocery store—he was basically a celebrity. Matthew Bonnefoy, "the blind kid." He was so popular, in fact, that people couldn't bear to keep their eyes off of him. Or speak to him. Or acknowledge his existence. The elephant in the room, that was Matthew. And for pretty much his whole life he had always been just kind of...there. That is, until he meets a nosy kid named Gilbert, who decides that "there" just isn't good enough.
