or: Successful playwright and director Gerard Way is in desperate need of an assistant to help him keep all of his plates spinning in the six months before his newest play premieres. He expects someone polished, someone who knows the theater world, someone who knows who he is. Instead, he gets Frank Iero, a 23 year old punk with a couple of failed dreams and a knack for scheduling. He's abrasive, sarcastic, and refuses to engage with Gerard's work.

Summary
Frank is a broke print shop employee in a failing post-punk band. He feels guilty over his internet scams — are they really scams, though? He started with creepy older guys, but it got very tiring. The older women, on the other hand, are sweet to him. They pamper him, dote on him, and willingly give him money just for talking to them. Being a beautiful, kind younger man who listens, treats them like a person and is their friend, a boy they can spoil, while they’re lonely in their real lives. That’s not a scam, that’s practically a service, right?
Then, he meets a stunning woman on a forum who quickly turns out to be unlike any other.

“I still can’t believe you’re going to get your nipples pierced, dude,” Rays' shocked, tinny voice cuts through the whirlwind of thoughts running through his brain.
“We’ve discussed this, Ray,” Frank sighs, reaching into his pocket for his carton of cigarettes and a lighter. “It was either my lip, nose or nips. I flipped a coin, and you were there.”
“You are such a…”
“Masochist?” Frank supplies with an eye roll, mumbling around his cigarette, flicking his lighter and inhaling deeply as Ray laughs on the other end of the phone.
“Yeah, Frankie, you’re a true masochist.”
Or Frank is going through a breakup and decides to get his nipples pierced, and Gerard, the hot piercer, helps him with his cravings.

Shameless smut for jdlowkey to cheer them up - Frank gets bored and decides to bother Gerard.
“I have insomnia,” Frank says. “And you’ve never slept worth a shit, so I figured we could commiserate. Maybe watch a movie.” He grins, laugh lines crinkling around his mouth. “Y’know, for old time’s sake.”
Sighing deeply, the sound Gerard makes is more resigned than annoyed. Running a hand through his hair, he says, “Fine, whatever, but we’re not watching Infection again. I’m still processing the trauma from twenty years ago.” Stepping aside, Frank slips past him, the faint smell of cheap hotel soap following him in as Gerard shuts the door.
