Summary
Kael is a masculine presenting lesbian who just recently passed the firefighter academy and decides to have a celebratory night with her friends. She had initially intended to play wing woman, but things go sideways when the woman her friend is eyeing—Sevika—decides she wants Kael instead.
Kael is used to being the one doing the chasing, the one pulling the moves and doing the chasing. She has a system. But Sevika completely throws her off her game, turning the tables so effortlessly that Kael is flustered, full of stupid butterflies, and deeply embarrassed. Her pride can't take it. Instead of admitting she might actually like how it felt to talk to someone who challenges her and makes her step out of her 'system', her ego kicks in and Kael decides she hates Sevika's guts for making her feel so out of control.
So, she does what she does best, she runs away. If she never sees Sevika again, she can pretend those feelings never happened, ignore her massive need for therapy, and go back to the version of herself she actually understands. She'll never see her again anyway... right?
