Summary
Samira has bothered Jack long enough to know that there’s no hidden message behind his words, that she can take him completely at face value, and more importantly, he is not kicking her out of his 24 hour diner. She takes a quick look at her lecture notes paired with her flashcards for one of her many upcoming quizzes. She shrugs. “I don’t know. Hopefully not. Maybe, like, two more hours?” Her recent cup of coffee should get her through this last burst of studying, though she knows she might be asking for a bit of a miracle here.
His eyes look thoughtful as he looks down at her mess of written notes and printed lectures on the booth. “I have something for you. Maybe it’ll help. I’m hoping it will,” he says, his words more rushed than usual.
