“He’s a lot like a bird, I feel.” That makes Achilles cock his head, curiosity roused. “He’s full of energy that refuses to be pinned down,” Patroclus begins in answer to the question Achilles didn’t ask. “Never sitting still, always ready to take flight again at a moment’s notice, wherever he might want to go. They’re both joyful and confident in the way they move through life.”
It’s an astute observation. Patroclus knows Zagreus better than Achilles gives him credit for; he never would have thought to draw such a comparison.
“I don’t think Zagreus knows what birds are,” Achilles comments idly, since he can’t think of anything more intelligent to say.

As it so happens, relationships work much the same way below the earth as they did upon its surface; they rely upon giving and accepting. Patroclus needs to remember how to give. Achilles needs to remember how to accept. And Zagreus needs to slow down enough to manage either.

Summary
After Zagreus' mother moves back home, everything is supposed to be okay. His dad still doesn't care about him, but that's normal enough. He's still trying to break out of the Underworld, but that's allowed now. Achilles and Patroclus still don't love him, but that's—well—he's trying to be okay with that. Really.
It would be easier, though, if they allowed him to keep his space from them, and stopped asking him to sit down with them for a chat, and didn't keep asking after that invitation to their house they extended a while ago that he's been avoiding.
He's trying not to be in their way, so why won't they let him?(aka: Zagreus thinks he's getting in the newly-reunited couple's way but his attempts at avoidance aren't going so well, Achilles feels bad about lying to Zagreus by implying that he wasn't in love with him, Patroclus meddles, But It's Ok Because They All End Up Havin' Sex!

Achilles loves the Prince. Patroclus can see that in the gentle adoration in his beloved's eyes as he stares after the flame footed god. Yet for all that they sing songs of his bravery, Achilles has always been the hesitant one. Patroclus won't let him wait forever.
