She started as always.
"There's about a 1% chance you'll see a whale your entire life."
Her eyes sparkled. There was probably a bigger chance here. She'd have to tell Hannah all about it when she got back.
"Land locked the way we are, it was probably even less for people like us."
Joy had never seen the sea before this.
Had never really thought about it.
But this world seemed to run on the sea, seemed to thrive and build and live with it like it was life and death and taxes.
Even she could admit that if left to it long enough she may become a bit addicted to it.
"So whales are incredibly rare. Just about as rare as it is to find someone, something, truly important."
Joy had lived her life in a bubble of knowledge. Scarping together every bit of information she could come across and devouring it. she could write a paper on anything. And hand it in, numbered with 12pt, times new Roman font with a bibliography and feel absolutely no stress.
But knowledge did not equate to action. So when she awoke in a dark forest with her heart beating and head screaming to survive the only thing she could do was try.

Summary
After what felt like an eternity of nothingness, a young woman from Earth awakens to a second chance at life—
But not on the Earth she has known. On Nirn—a world she once believed to be fiction. Reborn beneath the scorching sun of Hammerfell’s deserts, she must navigate a land of gods, monsters, and ancient prophecy.
Her story won’t stay in Hammerfell, either. She ends up traveling across different provinces, each with their own cultures, dangers, and problems, slowly figuring out where she fits in a world that was never meant to include her in the first place.
(This is a story I write just for fun, so the plot might wander, derail, or completely lose the plot at times—and that’s honestly part of the charm.)

"What?" Adrian says after a tense moment.
"I can prove it to everyone," Grace says, his heart in his throat. "I'll - I'll make you and Rocky the most celebrated couple on Erid. I promise."
"Stupid human," Adrian hisses. "You would give up your chance for him just like that?"
"Yes," Grace says hoarsely.
"Anything for him."

“Woah,” I laughed, “I appreciate it, but that’s… for mating and waste.”
{I know. Leaky human has many holes to leak from. Never see this one. Has TWO fluids. Interesting. Rocky will study. Answer questions that Grace won’t answer because blood goes to fifth limb and away from stupid squishy human brain. Like now.}
That jerk was right. I could feel two things at once. Rocky, above me, VERY deliberately pressing his carapace even closer into my body. And the soft, throbbing sensation between my legs, pressing at the fabric of my sweatpants.
Ohhhh fudge.
