Shen Yuan wakes up freezing in the decaying Qing Jing Manor. He realizes he has transmigrated into the body of the infamous Lord Shen, an aristocrat despised by the local townsfolk and obsessed with the occult. The manor is full of iron locks and salt lines. The wards are not meant to keep the angry villagers out but to keep the Abyss subdued.
Determined to survive his villainous role, Shen Yuan maintains a mask of indifference while trying to raise the half-starved orphan he finds freezing in the stables: Luo Binghe. Despite his best efforts to provide a mundane life, the manor actively calls to the boy's dark heritage. When a violent storm shatters the ancient seals, the ballroom floor rips open, dragging Binghe into the labyrinth beneath the moors.

Shen Qingqiu doesn’t hear the rest of Luo Binghe’s sentence. Instead, he hears two dissonant shouts of surprise as his body drops like a sack of flour and his consciousness blinks out like a dead light.

Binghe opens his mouth to say something when he notices something that makes him almost choke. On the outside, Shizun looks like a lofty immortal: his gaze is cold and his posture is straight. He looks calm and collected. However, on the inside he is anything but calm. His heart beats violently, like it wants to jump out of his chest. His blood rushes to his limbs, and his muscles are tense like he is ready to run. His blood is sour and bitter with fear and distress.
Shizun is... scared...
No. It can't be called a regular fear. This is a panic. This is a raw, primal terror. And all of that because of Binghe.
