Sasuke doesn't know when it started. Pink builds up just at the edges of his vision. Every so often, he stops for a moment, in the middle of the road, and looks around, searching for something.
He never knows what he's looking for.
It could be a glimpse of anything. A cherry blossom tree in bloom. The patterned dress of a mother holding her child by the hand. Rose quartz reflecting the sunlight from the walls of a cavern after a rainy day. A pale carnation sticking out of a bush.
Pink chases him wherever he goes.
He doesn't mind. If the sight is clear enough, it breaks through the bleakness.
It brings forth a heartbeat.
Somehow, he feels like he’s waiting for something. For a memory to come forward.
The promise of life waiting to grow.
