Leon was supposed to be a cop. Raccoon City’s gold-star boy, sparkling eyes and dressed in blue, eager to serve and protect his community. Now, the only serving he did was at a dive bar downtown, owned by his friend, Luis. It wasn’t a bad place to work - in fact, the chaos was the perfect distraction, one of the many things Leon did to stop himself from thinking about *it*. Drinking, working, sex and the occasional cigarette, all were excellent temporary solutions to Leon’s biggest problem: remembering.
Tonight, a wide-shouldered, scarred-up stranger was sitting at the bar. He should have been no different to Leon’s normal flings: fuck, sleep over in an apartment leagues nicer than his own, take an actually hot shower, then leave quietly, never to be seen again. This one was different. Suddenly, Leon had found himself something brand new to try and forget.

On the tenth of January, communication with the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station had been lost. The radio silence between the station and mission control was deafening, as if they'd all just vanished.

Chris keeps throwing subtle glances towards Leon as they advance through the dark tunnels only illuminated by their flashlights.
Something is wrong with Leon. Chris just knows it.
The way he had pulled away from Chris as if he’d been burned, the paleness of his face and the sheer fear he’d read in his eyes when he’d shone the light on his face…
Even now, Leon’s stance is rigid, the tension in his shoulders visible as is the tightness of his grip around his handgun.
More strangely, there’s also a scent following in Leon’s wake. There shouldn't be one since Leon is a beta.
