Summary
Asking Kiryu on a date is supposed to be a joke. It’s just another in Majima’s long list of contrived reasons for Kiryu to get mad enough at him to fight him.
So he’s thrown for a loop when Kiryu doesn’t answer by punching him in the face, but by accepting.
Obviously Kiryu’s playing along, just like he did with the bartender scheme, and with Goromi, and everything else. Majima can work with that. There’s no way he’ll crack before Kiryu does.
Or: Majima commits to the bit so hard he ends up in a long-term relationship.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but even as he stood there, he felt increasingly anxious. Panic crawled up his spine, his heartbeat thundering in his ears. He contemplated what he should do. Call an ambulance?
No. He knew exactly who to call.
The phone rang once before the voice at the other end of the line took Kiryu from terrified to angry.
“Yo! Kiryu-chan!”

This shouldn’t be an issue, they’ve been shirtless together before, but his knees never feel wobbly in a fight and his skin doesn’t jump away from Kiryu’s touch when it’s a strike instead of a stroke and there’s that sick fear-anticipation cocktail again.
“Are you… okay?” Kiryu stills his hand, his rough fingers resting against the side of Majima’s ribs where his traitorous heart is banging against the bone like it’s trying to break free.
“What— yeah! Of… Of course I’m okay Kiryu-chan! I’m more than okay, actually! I’m great, this is great, I’m doing great, just all… great.”
Kiryu doesn’t say anything for a moment but his face says a novel, a whole epic, and none of it is good for Majima. He’s regretting chucking his jacket now—his tantō’s in the pocket and if he had it he could just plunge it into his own throat so he could bleed out before he died of embarrassment.
