Summary
“You know,” Nathaniel points out, “You’re the only one who ever looked at me like that.”
Andrew flicks him a glance, putting a cigarette between his lips, “Like what, idiot?”
“Like I’m a human being and not a property. Like I’m someone worth saving.”
His fate may have spoken, but Nathaniel never passed up an opportunity to talk back.

Summary
“It’s not like I actively try to die.” Chishiya shrugs. “But I also don’t care if I do.”
Arisu holds his gaze for an endless second. “Liar.”
Chishiya blinks. Tilts his head. The left corner of his lip creases in smug curiosity. “What makes you so sure of that?”
“Because we have a few things in common. Remember?”
Chishiya is forced to acknowledge that Arisu has more power over him than anyone ever had.
He tries to fight it (and loses).

Summary
“I knew it, jagiya.” Moonjo’s voice is nothing more than a cool gust of wind. “You’re the greatest masterpiece I’ve ever created.”
Jongwoo tilts his head. Considers him. Doesn’t bother to push back the strand of hair that slides into his face.
“I’m not your masterpiece.”
The teeth bracelet clatters gently when the ice-cold knife slides into his grip.
“I’m your downfall.”
Jongwoo tries to deal with his life after the Eden-Gosiwon murders. Then a shadow of his past catches up to him.

"I-" Chishiya lets his hand slip from the rusty metal. "I'm not going to hurt you."

Summary
“I never felt like I could reach Keisuke. I tried my best, but I couldn't. He just had the misfortune of being the son of a studpid mother – and an even more stupid father.”
Ryoko seems so composed that Kazutora almost dismissed the underlying bitterness that resonated especially in her last words as an illusion.
“I sensed that something terrible would happen if I didn't find a way to reach him. But instead of continuing to search for a solution, I simply passed that responsibility onto others who had the access to Keisuke that I lacked.”
She is still caressing the cat's forehead. “So I passed my responsibility on to Chifuyu. And before that, to you. That wasn't reasonable … but I was too desperate to see it.”
Again, that demanding meow sounds, which Kazutora ignores.
“I think a part of me died with Keisuke,” Ryoko confesses. “But you're not the one who killed my son. Kisaki did.”
