Summary
The monsters are dead.
The school is closed.
And for the first time since arriving at Nevermore, Wednesday Addams finds herself with nothing to investigate.
At least, that’s what she tells herself.
As summer separates the students of Nevermore across the country, Wednesday and Enid attempt to navigate a friendship that somehow became the most important relationship in either of their lives. Family expectations, old wounds, awkward phone calls, and an increasing number of text messages quickly prove more complicated than murder ever was.
Neither of them is prepared to examine what that might mean.
Fortunately, denial is something they both excel at.
But while Nevermore sits empty, some parts of the school remain locked.
Some doors were closed for a reason.
And some histories are better left forgotten.
Unfortunately, Wednesday Addams has never been particularly good at leaving things alone.

Summary
"I need you to pretend to be my…lover.” She tries not to choke on the word.
Wednesday expected Enid to yelp or freeze in shock, perhaps even an astonished scream. What she gets is Enid’s bumbling laughter, almost hysterical in nature. So she stands entirely too still until her friend leans down to hold her stomach and gather her breath.
“Are you done?” She asks after a while.
Enid nods, still having trouble breathing. “Sorry,” she giggles a little and turns her head up to look at Wednesday, the tears in her eyes now made of mirth instead of sorrow. “It’s just…it looked like that was so hard for you to say.”
(or, wednesday lies about needing a fake girlfriend just to have enid spending the break with her)

Summary
“We could leave.”
Alicent turns and looks at her daughter with a frown, not immediately understanding the meaning of her words. Helaena is gazing at the city, hands gripping at the banister with such strength that her knuckles are turning white. Before Alicent can ask anything, her daughter speaks again.
“We should leave,” repeats the young woman, voice gaining conviction. “You, me and Jaehaera. We should disappear where no one will find us. Far from their war and their greediness.”
Torn between respecting her deal with Rhaenyra and protecting her daughter, Alicent makes a decision that changes the entire course of the Dance.
