The thin air and chill biting at tired skin suggested otherwise. His eyelids felt heavy. It would have been so easy to just lay down and never rise again.
“Perhaps. We shall see.”
They had been wandering these caverns for for what felt like years, and yet his nameless friend still insisted on keeping hope. Perhaps that alone was what kept them both going.
It was a comforting thought, if anything.
“...When we emerge, what is the first thing you plan to do?”
“Hmm...Perhaps I will take you to lunch for some almond tofu. As a victory meal. I have heard from somewhere- someone? that it tastes good.”

Alex raises her eyebrow. "You only need one to two years for this to work. After that, you can divorce. Aomine, you need a wife to get your father's inheritance. Momoi, you need a husband to fix your scandal. It works."
Aomine wants to counter that there's something wrong on what she said but he can't pinpoint what.
Momoi doesn't think the same way as he does because, "For Tai-chan, I'll do anything. Aomine Daiki," she breathes his name like a curse. "Let's get married."
