Summary
After Haarlep's outburst in the Boudoir, Raphael has been pointedly avoiding them. Not one toe has crossed the threshold since the moment he left. What they did now was none of his concern...except for those contracts. Except for the vital part they played in his plan. Except for several other things that he had been avoiding even more than the room or the incubus within. A House cannot truly succeed with discontent within the ranks, thus he concocts a new plan to deal with the problem he created for himself.
Meanwhile, Haarlep has found themselves seeing only clients, as if the devil himself had obeyed their command for him to stay away. Words spoken in spite, perhaps, but with the weight of the truth behind them too. Had they been merely a toy, rather than an advisor as Raphael had once claimed, it would be of little consequence as long as they were fed. But being spurned for some childish obsession? Being forced to work with the shadow of their past?
