Summary
“I think I'm benching one of my starters.”
Her father stops carving his roast beef to meet Jackie’s eyes while her mother frowns slightly. Jackie shifts a little, uncomfortable under the sudden attention, wondering how she has survived eighteen years of those same awkward silences after saying anything that would be overanalyzed and, half the time, turned against her.
“Why?”
Because I publicly humiliated her and jerked off to it a few seconds later.
“Because...” Jackie clears her throat, suddenly embarrassed by the reality of the facts. “she's been off her game lately.”

Or
Jackie doesn't die, not completely. She's destined for something better, far better than fading away in the snow.

Summary
"She’s different now, honey. There’s something—I don’t know what happened out there, but she’s not the same as you remember. Just don’t take it personally."
Deb’s words rattle around Jackie’s skull as she stands outside the hospital room. The plain wooden door seems to mock her. Why can’t she grab it? Why is she just standing there?
"She’s not the same as you remember."
Jackie's appendix ruptures the morning she's supposed to board the plane to Nationals. The flight never makes it to Seattle. Two years later, rescuers find the team alive, and Jackie thinks her nightmare is finally ending. Except the Shauna that returns to their hometown is not the same as the one who left.

Summary
Jackie felt oddly lucky that this year, Brown and Rutgers had different spring break schedules.
For the first time since high school, she and Shauna would get two full weeks together instead of just one—visiting each other’s campuses back-to-back. In years past, their breaks had always overlapped, usually spent in Wiskayok, where time was divided between family obligations, catching up with old teammates, and trying to steal a few quiet hours alone together.
But now, in their final year of college, it felt like the universe had finally thrown them a bone. Two weeks. Just the two of them.
aka jackie is a disaster and wants to kiss shauna (but she doesn't know that yet)

Summary
"Why'd you leave?" Jackie finally asked the million-dollar question.
"Why did you stay?" Shauna shot right back.
Neither of them seemed to find a decent answer.
or: when Shauna comes back to Wiskayok after 16 years of Med School, she has two things on her mind: fixing her relationship with the daughter she basically left behind and understanding why Jackie Taylor married Jeff Sadecki.

Summary
“I've been thinking about it,” Jackie murmurs, and Shauna wants to bite her flushed cheeks. “Nat said something when I called her a few days ago, and…”
Shauna rolls her eyes. She does not want to hear about the freaky shit Lottie and Nat are getting up to. Not to mention whatever they have going on with Misty fucking Quigley. “I know that Nat's an omega, and it's, y'know, different for her. But…” Jackie chews on her bottom lip, considering her next words. “I want it. With you.”
OR:
Jackie and Shauna try knotting.
