"Do you miss it? Seeing your own face?"
"Preening in the looking glass? Petty vanity? Of course I miss it. I've never even seen this face. Not since it grew fangs and my eyes turned red."
I chewed on my lower lip, heat rising to my cheeks. "Do you want to see your face?"
"And just how, my fair friend, do you think I could manage that?" He seemed agitated. As if the thing I was offering couldn't be deliver on. His red eyes narrowed as he observed me.
Pulling my pad from my pack, I held it tight for a moment. I hadn't shared a piece since... I swallowed, hard, before handing it over.
His brows knitted and he flipped open the cover, his eyes going wide.
He didn't look up, but turned the page. The more he looked, the more anxious I became. -
