Viktor tries to picture the person he’d be if all his time wasn’t spent holding Jayce together like this. Has to stop picturing anything at all soon after. It’s an exercise in humiliation.
But now, it’s Jayce. Even in the throes of pain, of trauma relived, of being lost and being found again by Viktor’s hands. When Jayce is a supplicant by his feet. When Jayce kisses him sweet on the lips like worship, like love. Viktor plays pretend. Imagines he’s someone accepting the touch solely for Jayce’s sake. A favour, selfless, to collect the overflow, wiping tears, staunching blood. A place given to put his heart when his own ribs don’t suffice.

Summary
Viktor and Jayce start working as partners on their shared Hextech dream. Even as things start looking up, Jayce continues to struggle with his mental health, often thinking about how he almost jumped to his death out of his former workshop.
Viktor comes to notice that Jayce isn't all smiles and grand aspirations, despite the mask he puts on. Whenever Jayce feels he isn't doing 'enough', he takes it out on himself in less-than healthy ways and it is becoming harder and harder to hide.
All Viktor knew before Jayce was dedication to his studies and inventions, so the last thing he expected was developing feelings for the other man. All the while Jayce, somewhat foolishly, thinks he's straight and that his affection towards Viktor is merely friendship, until he turns down Mel and starts second-thinking his attractions...
