"You think I don’t want to?” Xaden's tone sends a shiver down my spine. He assumes such a predatory stillness that my heart stutters. “You think I don’t fantasize about sinking my teeth into you every time I make you blush? Dream about the places your blood rushes every time I turn you on? I want to all the damn time, Violence,” he growls. "That's the problem."

Summary
Violet Sorrengail hates Xaden Riorson. Xaden Riorson finds Violet Sorrengail to be the most infuriating woman he's ever met. This much is accepted fact at the University of Basgiath. So imagine big, bad Xaden's surprise when he finds himself thrust into the role of watching out for Violet on an evening where she has decided that Fireball whiskey is her best friend. That wouldn't normally be a problem, except for that one-night stand both of them pretend never happened and how Xaden is secretly in love with her. No biggie.

Summary
"Who the fuck are you?"
Xaden's blade is at the stranger's throat before Violet even comprehends the situation. The sharp edge of one of his perpetual twin swords glistens in the glow of mage lights, but she doesn't understand what's going on, her vision slightly blurry and her balance off as she stumbles, catching herself, her eyes not adjusted to the sudden darkness.
Xaden sounds scared.
