Summary
Thousands of years ago, the shire was burnt to the ground in a vicious attack, leaving it's people thieves and wanderers. When Thorin Oakenshield, the lazy regent king of Erebor, catches one such thief trying to steal the Arkenstone, he seizes the opportunity for a distraction from his royal duties and offers the burglar a deal: steal one fourteenth of the wealth in the mountain by the end of the year or be executed for his crimes.

Summary
Bilbo Baggins came home one sunny spring day exhausted, half starved and pregnant. His heart was broken, his name cursed by the dwarves he had saved and his house was on auction by the worst relative you could imagine. It was, understandably, a terrible day.
Once it comes out that Bilbo is *expecting,* however, even the most prim and proper hobbits are scandalised at the poor treatment he received by the conspicuously absent father (and, by extension, all his kind). The Shire rallies around their poor, ill-treated and half-starved kinsman, and the climate of dwarvish relations takes a decidedly chilly turn. -

Summary
After a second Fell Winter once again befalls the peaceful green hills of the Shire, the Thain decides to seek the protection of the dwarves of the blue mountain, who are under the rule of the kingdom of Erebor. However, something must be offered to the dwarves to seal the agreement.
Knowing the dwarves are in no need of gold, and that supplying provisions to the blue mountains is not nearly enough, they settle on the only thing they know the dwarves lack. Omegas.
The hobbits don't have to think twice about who will represent them.

Summary
“The dragon still did a lot of damage, didn’t it?” he says. “Burned everything.”
Elrond sighs, with resignation that Bilbo detects without looking at him. “Yes. The forests on the Mountain, the fields around Dale, and the city itself have been burned. Many people have lost their lives, and those who survived have nothing.”
Is that not familiar as well, Bilbo muses bitterly. “But Gandalf is there to help them,” he says and wishes he could have said the same about his own people and land. “So it all should be well.”
Elrond does not reply. His silence lasts long enough for Bilbo to understand it.
Or,
In which Bilbo, after losing his home, many neighbours and family in a catastrophic flood, travels East in hopes of helping the survivors of dragon fire... and ends up losing his heart as well. To the King of Erebor, no less.
