Summary
The bathroom is anything but silent with his music still playing and the water still going, but it’s like Zanka has gone deaf with how quiet his head is. There’s only one thing on his mind.
It should be him. It will be him. Zanka has worked too hard, gone too far, for Jabber to put another barrier between them. Zanka can accept that he’s smarter than him. Stronger than him. Better than him. But he won’t accept him acting like they’re not meant to be. Like they don’t need each other.
The water stops at the same time his speaker dies, leaving Zanka in an almost opaque silence as he dries off.
Zanka will have Jabber. Whether Jabber likes it or not.
Or; Zanka needs Jabber. Jabber needs Zanka, even if he's acting like he doesn't. That's okay. He'll learn.

Viktor frowned, pausing beside an overpriced pack of dark chocolates. Did Jayce even still like chocolate? He hadn’t seen a single wrapper at home lately. This one was $25.99—hardly enough. Jayce deserved better. Maybe a bakery run on the way back. Still, it would do.
He reached for the pack.
Thwack!
"Ow!"
His hand froze.
“Jesus Christ! Whoever the sire is of the... uh... tiny handicapped child—ow! Sir, please stop hitting me with your cane—your son is currently—ow!—in aisle five. Please come get him. Right now!”
Viktor exhaled through his nose.
"Nikolai," he muttered, already moving.
