Shortly after Eddie had cut you off, Volt had appeared behind the bar during a lull and wrapped an arm around his waist, leaning down to his ear to playfully inquire, “Are you aware of what our live wire is currently up to?”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Besides talking?”
Volt huffed out a laugh. “They certainly are talking, yes. I was more curious, though, if you knew the subject of their conversation, dear.”
Eddie rolled his eyes, turning to face his partner, taking in the hint of a blush dusting his cheekbones. It had been a long enough night already without Volt deciding to be cryptic. “Out with it, Volt,” he prompted, crossing his arms over his chest.
Volt’s gaze sobered, but only fractionally. There were no other objects close to the bar at the moment, but still he kept his volume low, ensuring no one would overhear as he conspiratorially admitted, “It appears they’re discussing the time they spend in our bed… in great detail, no less.”
Or, Eddie and Volt overhear you talking rather explicitly with Betty and Ben-Hwa about your sex life. They decide to demonstrate.

Your own face feels as heated as his looks. You glance at Volt, at the hand he has extended towards you. You’re flattered; there’s no other word for the fluttery feeling in your chest. You’ve really been through the wringer with these two men standing before you at the bar, and you can’t imagine leaving their sides now.
And yet…
You remember Dorian’s warning, about the seedy nature of your breaker box. You think about the trouble the two of them have already gotten you into—Eddie’s strong arms cradling you to his chest at the foot of the fallen ladder and Volt’s lips pressed maddeningly to yours under the hazy club lights. It’s not really trouble. You sense no bad intentions. But at the same time, you’ve never felt this way about anyone—let alone two someones.
Imagining real intimacy with them terrifies you. What if it’s not everything you hope it will be? What if it is, and you become addicted? You look at Eddie again, and he raises a concerned brow at you. Could you take the leap and content yourself with drowning in the two of them?

“I’m just trying to keep you safe!” Eddie shouts.
“Well I don’t need you to!”
Volt shrinks back when Eddie’s jaw ticks and his fists ball up at his side. He thinks, if they were still part of the breaker box, that there might be sparks dripping from his fingertips at the moment. Something in his chest throbs painfully when Eddie takes a deep breath and turns on his heel toward the entryway, grabbing his keys. “I’ll leave then,” he mutters.
And then he’s out the door.
Volt looks back at you, his eyes wide and hands shaky, and sees you huff and cross your arms over your chest. “Typical,” you complain. “Running away without actually solving the problem. That’s just like Eddie.”
“Live wire, we should go after him,” Volt begs. He can’t stand the idea of his two loves fighting. Of the three of you being separated. Of anything coming between you. Of Eddie being gone, for any reason.
You scoff, and it makes everything in Volt seize up. “Eddie can come back and apologize whenever he wants to. You know he will. I’m gonna enjoy my freedom while I have it.”
