Summary
Becoming a vampire came with an onslaught of firsts.
First drink.
First kill.
First death-inducing walk in the sun.
For Louis, these came forcibly and furiously within twelve hours of his turning - but at least they were, in large part, expected (well, less the sun part - that he learned with some difficulty, a small grievance he still held with Lestat).
There were "firsts" however, that he did not expect which snuck up on him like a jungle cat preying on a hatchling: 1 that disappointed him, 1 that surprised him, and 1 that touched his maker.

Finally binged and loved Interview with the Vampire (in defense of late blooming, I'm sadly, highly squeamish).
Here in my fantasy headcanon (without budget or time constraints), I offer extended/deleted Loustat scenes, starting with their courtship in 1x01, the aftermath of Louis' turning in 1x02, more jealous Lestat in 1x03.

Cliff gapes at him.In which the hit that Cliff Marleau had on Shane Hollander goes a little different. For one, they’re in Boston. For another, Ilya realizes he might be panicking? Which is probably not something to do in the middle of a game. And, oh yeah, he just outed both himself and his not-boyfriend to an entire locker room of hockey players.
But that’s okay, because while Boston may be vicious, they do take care of their own. And they quickly realize that their captain’s happiness and willingness to stay with the Bears is tied to Shane Hollander. The solution is easy, they’ll just have to make Shane Hollander a Bear.

“You talk to all strangers like that?” Louis blurted out, annoyance coursing through him. His fists were now slightly clenched, something that Lestat seemed to notice as he averted his gaze downwards momentarily before bringing it back up.
Lestat’s amused smirk was still plastered on his face, and Louis wished to wipe it off him, but his annoyance would quickly flounder with what Lestat said next.
“Only the ones as beautiful as yourself.”
Louis' frown grew deeper, feeling more lost than he’d ever had in his entire life.
Or; Daniel has forced single parent Louis to go out for once, and somehow he gets introduced to Lestat, a member of a band Louis had never heard of before.
One evening with Lestat proves to be enough for Louis to start facing a part of himself that he swore he buried for good long ago.

"But I'm telling you it doesn't have to end. Not tonight. Not in eleven years. Not if I just-" He looked down at the boy. The expression on his face was strange and soft, as though he hadn't quite expected whatever he found there. "-keep him."
"They'll kill you," Aziraphale said again. It came out quiet, this time. Almost a plea.
"Not," Crowley said, looking up, "if you help me."
The fog between them lightened. The hum of the lamp softened. The blare of the sirens grew louder. The whole weight of the world they loved was sleeping in Crowley’s arms.

Dean Winchester decided to use his new found freedom of responsibilities to pack up and move to Los Angeles to stick his feet in the sand, get some sun, enjoy the movie magic in motion, and decide how he wants to spend the rest of his life. He was definitely not running away from the personal consequences and feelings of the past few months.
At least, that is what he had thought at first.
He did not expect to be peer pressured into attending Alcoholics Anonymous by Sam, Jody, and by extension the wayward sisters and Eileen, when they decided that Dean needed to stop with the liquor and spirits, and instead deal with the ghosts of grief weighing down his shoulders.
He also didn't expect to be taken under the wing of a firefighting captain with the same name as one of the ghosts he was running from.

There had been a moment where Shane’s eyes had landed on him and his throat had gone tight in a way that he told himself was envy, because Rozanov had been deemed number one and that was where Shane had wanted to be and no other reason, before he’d even noticed her. It didn’t last long though, because she was honestly sort of hard to miss.
She looked like a doll, dressed up in a pale pink tweed dress with a big lace collar and a giant bow in her hair. She was tiny compared to Rozanov, only just reaching his waist, but that didn’t seem to stop her from climbing all over him as though he were a jungle gym, tugging on his hands in demand as she rattled off something Shane didn’t understand the words of but picked up the meaning for pretty easily. It wasn’t hard to see that she was trying to get him to watch her. “Ilyusha, posmotri na menja!”

It is no secret that the rivalry between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov brings attention not just to them as players but to their teams and the sport as a whole. It's good marketing is what it i. But after a few years of the same spiel the fans are growing used to it. Attention is starting to dwindle and so somewhere in a meeting an overworked marketing intern comes up with a crazy idea: What if we flipped the story? What if Hollander and Rozanov started dating?
A canon divergent/adjacent fake dating AU in which the NHL is a lot less homophobic (at least enough to let this idea fly), the higher ups actually listen to good ideas, and Shane and Ilya can't resist a competition to be the best at something.

It wasn't because he was scared his best friend was fucking the rival captain, and it definitely wasn't because he wanted to talk to Marlow more. "Give me your number, and we'll try and figure this whole thing out. I'll talk to the guys, and you talk to Rozanov. We'll tell each other what we notice. It can be this whole sleuth thing, just between us." Hayden realized that his proposition was oddly intimate. He blushed and choked out an awkward "if you want" to try and salvage some dignity, but it was redundant.
Marlow looked at him amusedly before handing him his phone. There was a look in his eyes that Hayden couldn't quite read.

We should drink some more right now, I think.” There was a round of agreement around the table, and Ilya registered someone leaving to order more drinks. He nodded with approval at that.
“I have an idea.” Marlow threw his arm around Ilya's shoulders. “You, my friend, will go to one of Hollander’s games, wearing Hollander’s jersey, and you will cheer for him like the biggest fan that you apparently are.“ Cliff’s smile, Ilya thought, was a little evil.
Drunk Ilya loses a bet, and he's challenged to wear Hollander's jersey to his game.
He's not entirely unhappy with the idea.
