Basically, Elena is pregnant with Elijah's baby or babies haven’t been picked yet. At the same time, Hayley is pregnant with Hope. There is more going on than that. The mind control the brothers had on Elena has broken, and she is dealing with the fact that since the brothers came into her life, everything has been a lie. She did love Elijah, but he left her. After his family took everything from her. Klaus killed her biological Parents, Aunt Jenna, took her freedom and made her feel like nothing but a blood bag and incubator for future doppelgangers to torture. Rebekah killed her brother and Alaric. Esther took her ability to have children. Then, she had to remember that Stefan and Damon only used her to be a toy. She was nothing to them but a toy to destroy. That's why they were mad when they found out about the sacrifice because they couldn't destroy her the way they planned. She is alone now with no one left; she just wishes she could be numb for a while. Or for Elijah to come back, he was her true happiness.
