Summary
It was almost surreal for Grace to imagine that there was another actual human being aboard his ship right know. Well, it was surreal because there was logically no way for a human to have travelled all the way from Earth to Erid in a gosh darned submarine, but let’s assume Grace was beginning to accept that fact (at least until he could ask the man a few questions), but back when he had remembered the details about the project Hail Mary, back when he had first remembered that he had been sent out in space to die on his own, with no hope of seeing Earth ever again, Grace had been forced to come to terms with the idea that he would never see another human being ever again. The last faces he’d see were those of his two deceased colleagues, and that wasn’t necessarily a good memory.
To have another human here, with him, Grace couldn’t help but feel hopeful.

Summary
What do you do if someone wronged you and nobody seems to really care about it ? Do you just swallow that shit and move on or do you start throwing your weight around ?
There is probably a balance to achieve between taking up the space you need to make sure nobody fucks with you but also not going so harsh as to try and control those around you. How annoying. Wish it was easier.

It must have been a funny thing to see, Derek thought. Two idiots, so set on saving the other that they didn’t realise both of them would die if they didn’t just choose who would leave and who would stay.
Two selfless idiots who owed each other’s life. One way or another, it didn’t matter. Derek could feel it, they were a pair of doomed, sacrificial lambs. One had to go, the other had to live. One knew all about the other ; through his infinite knowledge, the other was one of the rare clear concepts he could grasp.
The other did not know the first thing about him.
He still claimed to owe him his life.

See, Gordon was pissed at himself. He had already been feeling utterly pathetic the whole day not being able to help the rest of the team to fight off the soldiers that had been attacking them, his lack of arm and foggy mind had been making him feel helpless all this time. How much more pathetic could he get ? By kissing the guy he swore he hated with his guts, of course.
Benrey, Benrey, Benrey, it was always that asshole. Always antagonising Gordon and now making him feel things that were way too complex to unpack in his current state of mind.
Whatever, he'd just bottle up all of his complicated feelings and ignore them forever, that's what he usually did.

Originally written between midnight and 2am back in 2024, I decided to rework the whole thing because I did have some good ideas back them. Very proud of this since it is technically my first hlvrai fic (I'm late to the party, I know) so I hope you will enjoy it <3

Still reeling too much from his debatably imagined glace, Simon reaches across Grace’s space, placing his hand down in the space between Grace’s thigh and his hand. “Use your words, Grace.” One of his brows twitch, not nearly as patient as Grace is. “I hate guessing games, so spit it out.”
The nervous grin never leaves Grace’s lips and the bulb above the stove highlights the way blood rushes to his cheeks.
