Summary
After the fiasco in Penacony, Jade gifts unmated omega Sunday to unmated alpha Aventurine. Given no choice but to accept someone Aventurine never wanted to see again, and no other option but to stay with a man that Sunday has only ever felt irritated about, Aventurine offers forth a proposal: they live as roommates and never have to pretend they’re anything other than that.
Sunday easily accepts this deal. After all, he has no desire to get closer to Aventurine. But as time goes on, both men are forced to accept that when it comes to each other, there’s more than meets the eye — and proximity only makes the heart grow fonder.

A kind of stillness came over Aventurine, his breath held for a long moment. He felt utterly devastated.
“You read my mind,” he said softly.
“No,” Sunday protested forcefully. “No. I try very hard not to hear your thoughts, but sometimes they are so loud, Aventurine. That’s all.”
“Stay the fuck out of my head,” Aventurine hissed. Cold fear and a hot sense of betrayal wracked through him.
He jerked back, then, with one final glance at Sunday’s rueful face, darted out of his chair and wove his way frantically through the assorted tables until he escaped the restaurant, and Sunday’s scrutiny, entirely.
