Summary
There is a monster with them.
It creeps and stalks them, always following one step behind. No matter where they go, the monster is there with terrible teeth and claws. It is hideous and no matter how much Caleb warns them, the others pretend the monster isn't there. They can't see it but he can.

Summary
It isn't Essek's first sunset by any means. It isn't even his first sunset on a beach either. He has seen many in his time since leaving Rosohna and the Dynasty. The sunsets in Rexxemtrum hold no comparison to the ones along the Menagerie Coast. Even so, he cannot deny there is something beautiful and grand about this particular sunset. A gentle feeling of warmth and contentment fills him and in that moment, it feels as though all troubles and anxieties are gone. Taken away by the incoming tide that laps the white shoreline.
It baffles him.
OR: Essek watches a sunset after enjoying a day at the beach with the rest of the Nein.

Summary
One moment, Caleb is walking through the dark back garden trying to coax in a stray who has been making themselves as frequent visitor. They thought for sure the wizard toss up some globs of light to brighten up the area but no. Instead, Caleb wanders around the tall tree that grows near the back corner in search of the cat.
Molly watches from the window as Caleb’s foot catches one of the many sprawling roots that spiderweb their way around the tree. Arms fly out in a windmill motion as he attempts to balance himself, over-corrects this, and falls flat on his face in the dirt.

Summary
Molly can do more with his magic than just kill people, and when Caleb starts asking questions, Molly sees an opportunity arise.
-
Molly leaned a bit closer and let his voice drop lower again, tracing patterns over Caleb’s ribs as he spoke. “However, with consent, I could take someone’s sight away for a while. Like a blindfold, but without one, and all they would have to focus on is my voice and my touch.” He ran his palms down Caleb’s sides and traced the ridges of his hip bones. “With consent, I could bind you without ropes, keep you pinned and at my mercy with nothing to do but feel, and take, and be pleasured.” His hands moved up now, sliding over Caleb’s chest with a slow drag. He could feel the rise and fall of it as Caleb’s breath grew ragged.“What else, Molly,” he said, voice strained.
“With consent,” Molly purred against the shell of Caleb’s ear, “I could bring you right to the edge and keep you there for as long as I wanted. And the best part,” his tail snaked around to brush lightly against Caleb’s thigh, eliciting a shiver from the man. “Is that I can feel every single thing that you feel. And you can feel me.”

Summary
What do you do when you can't do anything?
When a sabotaged lesson plan infects Caleb, his colleagues, and their students with a rare and deadly disease, there is little to do but wait for a team of researchers to try and find a cure. But then, each moment seems an insurmountable task--avoid panic, take care of one another, manage their worsening symptoms, figure out who or what may have caused it, and stay alive long enough for medicine to be created.
There is something all too familiar about being locked in a Soltryce tower, trusting people who can't be trusted, and hoping death won't find you before morning.

Summary
Beau is emergency-called to the Academy because a junior professor of transmutation attempted suicide in his office and they need her to decide what to do with him. He's going to be fine, the healers say, but he either can't or won't explain why he feels this way.
The more Beau digs into her closest friend's lowest moment, the less convinced she is that they have the full story of what happened to Caleb. Maybe she's onto something. Maybe she's fallen down a rabbit hole to avoid confronting her own feelings.
A story about love, fear, holding on, and letting go.
