Summary
But the image of Wilson eating the garden, the morning sun on his aged face, the wind in his fully gray hair, and the smile, on his cracked, ever so slightly cyanotic lips, is enough. It has to be. It is time with Wilson.
They got five months. Then they got two weeks. Now they have one day.
-
On Wilson's final day, House gets stuck in a time loop.

Summary
“Come on, kid,” someone says, rubbing his sternum with bruising fingers. Dennis desperately tries to swat the hands away, the bone already sensitive from the weight of the patient from just moments ago. “Open your eyes, Whitaker, come on. Look at me. Open your eyes.”
He twitches, his limbs flexing in odd and tight angles as he tries to expel the memory of the pain. He tries to speak, not to answer the question but to ask for help, help, anyone, anyone at all, his mom or one his brothers or the youth pastor who gives him bandages when no one is looking, just, God, please, please—
The best Dennis can manage is a deep gurgle from his throat.
*
When he gets seriously injured after an altercation with a patient, Dennis is forced to reveal parts of himself he would rather keep hidden.

House can’t find Wilson anywhere, but he wouldn’t call it worrying, what he’s doing. He decides to call the nagging at the back of his mind ‘curiosity’ instead.

Summary
"What would you have done?"
The infarction was something they didn't talk about. Ever. Through mutual, unspoken agreement, they never talked about the intimate details of those hellish days and the year following it. It had made the silence between them jagged and hard for awhile, but those edges dulled over time. At least for Wilson they did.
"Please don't make me answer that."

Summary
“Wilson—" House begins, as if he’s learned by osmosis that this is the part where he’s supposed to infuse his voice with concern. Wilson wonders if it’s real, or if he’s mimicking one of his infamously schmaltzy soap operas.
“So…” he exhales slowly, dragging the vowel out. “I guess we shouldn’t have bought those season tickets for the Mets.”

“Dr Hadley told you, didn’t she.”
“That you still think it’s 2004? Yeah,” Chase says, feigning fascination with the dimmer switch. He is unfairly good-looking, Cameron thinks. “She warned me while you were having your CT.“
“Are we really married?”

Summary
“Your patient is healthy. Whatever crazy medical mumbo jumbo you want me to approve, talk to me about it tomorrow.” Cuddy says without even looking at him.
House stays silent. Cuddy looks at him. He knows what he has to do.
“I’d like to give you my two weeks, if that’s okay.”In which Gregory House feels a lot more guilty about Amber's death, a lot more depressed about Wilson's departure, and it drives him to do something he would usually resent.

Summary
Everyone loves being appreciated, but that is not why Wilson never says no to whatever request is asked of him.
He does it because he likes needy people, or something. He does it because he is genuinely a good person, or because he likes staying all night to monitor a patient, or because it's the right thing to do...or because it just doesn't matter if he's exhausted the next day. He's just Wilson. So it's okay.
Caring is Wilson's job, his way of earning attention or affection. He dedicates himself to caring for others and they make him feel like he deserves to exist, at least for a little while. It's been like that since he was a kid, when his parents told him it was his responsibility, his "chore," to take care of Danny. From then on, he was the carer, not the cared for.
Great. You understand. Everything is normal. Wilson is just doing what he always does. It doesn't matter if he's tired, or breaking. His family was normal. This case is normal. He doesn't have problems. There is no story here. He's....he's fine.Series

Summary
“Come over for dinner,” House says, poking Wilson with his cane. Wilson sighs, shaking his head.
"I can’t tonight, I’m busy,” he says, dragging his pen half-heartedly over a paper to lazily sign it.
"Busy with what?” House asks, incredulous. “Hosting a party in that shitty hotel room of yours? Got early reservations at the continental breakfast tomorrow?” Planning your suicide?
--
In which Wilson is suicidal, and House isn’t willing to let his best friend go. Enter Operation: Figure Out What The Fuck Is Wrong With James Wilson Before He Shoots Himself In The Head, in which his primary goal is to observe one James Wilson as closely as possible, determine the cause of Wilson’s suicidality, and remove it.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Operation FOWTFIWWJWBHSHITH (conveniently shortened to Operation: WTF) does not go spectacularly.

Summary
He was conjuring up some rather catastrophic scenarios to explain why House was locking him in there, while no one could answer a simple phone call. The hospital seemed unchanged beyond that threshold, at least judging by the faint beeps of the machines and distant footsteps, and his friend's face was neither expressive nor closed - as it usually was when something was wrong. His eyes just... examined Wilson intensely. Deep blue meeting his, wrinkling to give slightly morbid smiles
