Summary
Alhaitham seems undisturbed, placing the study down on the table so Kaveh can see. “It suggests,” he repeats calmly, “that non-sexual intimacy works just as well as the alternative in alleviating the more uncomfortable symptoms of heats and ruts. The article cites skin-to-skin contact, warmth, and a feeling of comfort and safety as the primary trigger for this, rather than… the usual methods, so to speak.”
Great. A week until Kaveh’s pre-cycle, and Alhaitham is suggesting that Kaveh try… what? Cuddling?
It's already frustrating enough to present as an enigma, but Kaveh's asexuality means he tends to suffer through his cycles alone and uncomfortable. When Alhaitham finds a study suggesting cuddling could help with Kaveh's upcoming cycle, it causes old feelings to surface and has Kaveh realizing Alhaitham might enjoy his company more than he previously thought.

Summary
“I want you to be honest,” Kaveh says, forcing his hands to be still. “Do you really think I might not be neurotypical?”
Alhaitham only offers a level stare, followed by a shrug. “You tell me.”
A series of observations from his friends prompts Kaveh to consider getting an evaluation. Or: Kaveh gets an AuDHD diagnosis, refuses to accept help, starts to unlearn his internalized ableism, and pieces together some things about himself.

Summary
When he sets the miis loose on the island, Kaveh has to admit he wasn’t exactly sure what they would do. He was expecting some cute interactions. He was not expecting his own mii to immediately fall in love with Alhaitham’s.
The speed at which it happens is concerningly fast; one minute they’re walking home, and the next Kaveh’s mii is staring starry-eyed at the one representing Alhaitham and asking if this is love.
Kaveh gets Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, and decides to put himself and his friends (and, of course, Alhaitham) into the game as miis. His mii, of course, immediately falls in love with his roommate's, leading to awkward emotions and perhaps even more awkward indirect confessions.

Summary
“Congratulations,” Kaveh’s body – Alhaitham – says dryly, the smooth, sarcastic tone sounding odd in Kaveh’s voice. “You’ve helped me figure out what the artifact does. Unfortunately, it now appears to be broken.”
Kaveh struggles to his feet as Alhaitham gestures to the artifact. It lies on the floor, cracked and bent, and Kaveh winces. “Great. And now we have another problem. I’d like my own body back, Alhaitham.”
Alhaitham frowns. “I would appreciate the same. It’s very hard to breathe in your body. I’m concerned your ribs might be broken.”
Alhaitham brings a supposedly safe artifact home that ends up swapping his and Kaveh's bodies, and they discover some things about each other. Or: a t4t haikavetham bodyswap one-shot featuring Kaveh not binding safely and Alhaitham now having to deal with the consequences of that.

Summary
Kaveh puts his other hand on the human’s, even though it barely covers the pad of his finger. “I’m sorry,” he whispers, like it will mean anything to the sleeping human. He’d offer a hug, if he could. Not like the human would be able to feel it, anyway.
He fails to notice that the human’s eyes are now open. Or that his other hand is now creeping behind Kaveh, reaching for something on the bedside table.
Something large comes down over Kaveh’s head, and he yelps.
Kaveh is a borrower - a small being living within the walls of Alhaitham's house, 'borrowing' scraps the human doesn't need to survive. He tries to stay out of sight... but between Alhaitham's grief over the loss of his grandmother, his own loneliness, and perhaps a bit too much empathy for a giant who could easily crush him, "staying out of sight" proves to be much harder than Kaveh thought. (a borrower!Kaveh AU)

Summary
"Who are you?" They both say in unison, Kaveh exclaiming in slight panic, and the other boy monotonously. Kaveh straightens up, trying to ease the shaking within him, a little bit embarrassed he was freaking out while the boy, probably younger than him, was as calm as could be. He clears his voice, trying muster up as much bravado in his chest so his voice doesn't betray the trepidation he feels.
"My name is Kaveh. Do you… live in this house?" He asks the boy, trying to gauge any semblance of emotion on his blank face. The boy seems to think for a moment, a moment that seems to drag on for an eternity, before he responds, "I am Al-Haitham, and…I don't know anything about this house. I just woke up here."
After they fight over chores, Kaveh wishes to himself that his relationship with Al-Haitham could be as simple as it was back when they were younger. The universe decides to have some fun in how it grants that wish.

Summary
“Alhaitham,” Kaveh drawls quietly, the alcohol hitting his system. “Why don’t you touch me?”
Alhaitham blinks. He wasn’t expected to be asked about this, of all things. This goes against everything he had gathered from his observations of Kaveh’s behavior.
“Because… you don’t like being touched?” Alhaitham supplies.
“But I do,” Kaveh whines. “And you never touch me.”
Or, Kaveh keeps reacting strangely when Alhaitham touches him. In observing why exactly Kaveh's behaving like this, Alhaitham realizes that what Kaveh desires aligns awfully close to his own.

Summary
When Kaveh was still a student, there was barely any time to think about romance, though. He noticed it alright, but always in relation to others, always too busy himself to even spare it any thought. "I’m dedicating myself to my studies", he would say to the nice aunties at the food stalls whenever they decided that he was a good enough candidate for their daughters and started to coax him into agreeing to a date. Then, "there is no time for looking for a partner when I have to make a name for myself", he would find himself answering whoever brought up the topic after his successful graduation.
-
Or: Kaveh has always been too busy to spare romance much thought. After some time living with Alhaitham, though, he finds himself just free enough to finally consider the matter, and what he finds is that he might not really want it as much as the whole world seems to want it. The thing is, though, he is also not necessarily against it, and when he and his roommate start to get closer, he finds that some aspects of it are... nice. And that with the right person, there really may be some appeal to the whole ordeal.Bookmarked by Amity206

Summary
Under the thin cotton of a dirty hospital gown, Kaveh looks fragile.
For too long, Alhaitham doesn’t speak. Something like dust sticks in his throat, dry and particulate. But it isn’t dust, because the dust isn’t nearly as thick as it should be in the abandoned treatment center beneath Dar al-Shifa. His boots didn’t leave prints on the stone when he followed the Doctor through the trapdoor and down the corridor. The air isn’t choked with years of undisturbed sand and rot. In fact, there’s a hint of disinfectant that hangs in his nostrils—cloying, like something sweet to mask decay.
Kaveh smells like decay.
“He isn’t a mad scholar,” Alhaitham says at last, barely a breath.
———
The Doctor has a new patient—a new experiment. Azar has made Alhaitham complicit.
