Summary
The man- now unmistakably Eddie Munson- opened his mouth as if to say something, choosing to instead launch himself at Steve. There was a second where Steve thought he was being attacked, knocked off kilter, but then Eddie’s arms were around him, burying his face in Steve’s hair. Half-collapsing beneath the weight, Steve guided them both to the floor, pulling Eddie closer instinctively. He felt thinner than he used to, the skin of his back littered with scars.
“Eddie,” Steve murmured disbelievingly, holding him as he shook like a leaf in Steve’s arms. “You’re not dead.”
Eddie laughed, despite the trembling. He clutched onto Steve’s shirt like a lifeline.
“Yeah,” he managed, voice high and vulnerable. “Sorry to disappoint.”

“Now, I want you to adjust the light so that this feature is the one the shadows point to.” Mr Granville ordered, tone gentle but commanding. He watched as Benedict began reshaping his shading, directing it further into the body instead of down. “Mm. Good. Let me just-”
Suddenly his hand closed over Benedict’s, warm and large, guiding his hand. An unexplainable rush made Benedict tense up and he had to force himself to relax. He allowed Mr Granville to guide his hand across the page, watching as the piece transformed before his eyes. Where he’d used harsh lines for shadows, Mr Granville softened them, guiding them on an angle that highlighted the neck and chest. It was extraordinary.
“My,” Benedict’s voice came out almost as a whisper. “You really know what you’re doing.”
Or, Benedict Bridgerton's character arc should have explored queerness and art in the regency era, so I wrote it.

Colin’s shoulders drop as he makes his decision and begins to leave, pausing in the doorway. He looks back at Deli, who avoids his gaze. He’s still beautiful. He’ll probably never stop being beautiful. But he isn’t a good person. And Colin can’t do this anymore. Whatever this is.
