The girl opened her eyes - an eye actually, as the right side of her face was so swollen that it was almost impossible to see her right eye.
Vader froze.
For a moment it was not the unfamiliar girl looking at him, but, he could have sworn, Padmé’s brown, bright and warm eyes.
And then something happened that none of those present could have predicted - Vader, former hero of the Clone Wars, current right hand of the Emperor who ruled almost the entire galaxy, hesitated.
OR: Anakin doesn’t burn, Padmé lives, and the Empire still rises.
Seven years later, Darth Vader meets the girl with Padmé’s eyes.

Summary
A long time ago in a galaxy, far, far away—no, even farther than that—a series of insignificant events affects everyone in massive ways no one could have foreseen: not even either of the two remaining people who can see the future. A messiah's prophecy is fulfilled. A family is reunited. A democracy is restored. None of it is easy, and none of it is perfect, but it's a start.
In other words: Anakin Skywalker just wants to be able to look his daughter in the eye. So, since there's no one else around who can give him a kick in the pants, he does so himself; and with great reluctance (and even more grumbling), he sets about fixing the galaxy he played a large role in screwing up.
