Two opposite impulses, equal in gravitational pull and each a form of the other: Shadow wants to hold Sonic’s head underwater and watch him drown.
So he traps the tip of his glove beneath the point of a fang and he pulls it off silently, but Sonic looks peaceful, open and almost ethereal, silverblue under the spill of the broken milkbowl moon, and when Shadow touches him, he’s far less cruel than he’d expected himself to be.
