Her fingers clench the bottle, knuckles turning white as a bitter laugh leaves her lips, the heart she was sure had already turned to dust, cracking deeply. She grits out a hatred filled, “I fucking knew it.”
It stings. Of course it stings - to know she was right all along. There was a tiny voice in the back of her head that thought maybe, just maybe she’d fucked it all up and overreacted. But this proves it, proves she was right.
A bitter taste - thick like cotton - fills her mouth at the realisation that Rumi has moved on. She never loved Mira. Mira doesn’t deserve to have a family.
