Roy Mustang’s words were laced with a thoughtful hum, and Edward tried not to feel hurt by the misassumption. Many heard his title and assumed it came down to his automail arm and leg. Ed had just hoped the Colonel – after everything – would’ve been different; that Mustang would’ve looked past Edward’s ill-fitting uniform and cripplingly-heavy automail and only see him as a person.
‘‘But,’’ Mustang continued, pensive, ‘‘I think they spelled your title wrong. You’re not Fullmetal, you should be Fullmettle. As in, you are full of mettle.’’
Edward blinked, utterly baffled.
‘‘Mettle, kid. M-E-T-T-L-E.’’
Mustang spelled it out for him. Literally. A genuine smile tugged at the Colonel’s lips as he rumbled out a fleeting chuckle, affectionately sweeping a hand over the top of Edward's golden crown. The boy's throat constricted as an annoying warm blur suddenly invaded his vision. He had experienced more kind words and actions under this man’s brief command than he had experienced in a long, long time.
It was just a shame that it was only a temporary arrangement.

Here he was, after the the fall, after HYDRA, after finding Steve again, still searching for himself.
--"Hey," Barnes harsh voice cut through the night. The next words that feel from Barnes' lips were as uncharacteristic and corny as they were natural. "Pick on someone your own size," he grumbled.
"You should'a minded your business, man," the man hissed just as he swiped for Barnes. Barnes' left arm made a whirring noise and was suddenly wrapped around the man's neck.

"Why do you have glass in there," Barnes pointed just before Pool dropped his weight two inches too close to Barnes personal space. If The Soldier was in the driver's seat, Deadpool would have been pushed over the ledge immediately.
"I was thinking," Deadpool began with that same, too cheery tone that bordered on insanity. "Maybe we should test your metabolism," Pool pulled out two bottles of vodka —and despite the fact that his face was clothed entire in red spandex— Barnes just knew there was a shit eating grin somewhere on his face.

"It's not a shit plan," Bucky admonished with something that looked suspiciously like a pout on his lips. Frank almost smiled at this. "It's working for me."
"Oh it is?" Frank forced his brows up with a dry tone and Bucky grunted and shoved a hand into Frank's shoulder. "It doesn't seem to be especially since you creep on them-"
"Shut the fuck up-"
"I don't think you want that," Frank laughs a little, head almost thrown back and a couple jagged huffs of laughter left his lips. Bucky couldn't help but smile at the foreign look on Frank's face. "I'm pretty sure you —or Barnes— dragged me over here to give you and earful on waiting too long or regret or something," Frank clicked his tongue, smile fading quickly. "But I know you know all of that already."
