Despite all the things that make Stiles human, despite the fragility of his body, bones so breakable beneath skin that bruises at the lightest pressure, he makes a better wolf than all of Derek's senses could ever sanction him to be.
Derek’s tongue sticks to the roof of his mouth, words tangled deep in his throat, too thick to push past. He lifts a shoulder, a faint, almost helpless shrug, hoping that Stiles understands all the things he wants to say, but can't find the words to speak aloud.
Stiles’ eyes catch the movement, bright with a familiar edge of mischief, a knowing spark flickering behind the sleepy haze. “That’s alright,” he says, voice low, but playful. “I’m sure we can find a way to loosen your tongue.”
Derek isn't especially worried – Stiles always seems to understand exactly what he needs.
