Itachi sees the sword coming before his mind can catch up to him and allow his brother to pierce him and so, he catches Sasuke’s wrist and they wrestle for a while in both attempts to get and kill and maybe die too before something terrible happens.
Itachi is the one who is supposed to be stabbed.
They both freeze as the sound of metal piercing flesh echos around them.The hilt of the knife is in both of their hands and one of them is stabbed.

Leo always protected them since he saw himself as the oldest, “If not me then who?” is what he would always say to Raph whenever he tried to get Leo to understand that none of the brothers liked seeing Leo take hits for them.
“At least let me protect you,” Raph stated, trying to look Leo in the eyes as he avoided the contact.
“I can’t ask that of you Raph,” he sighed as he stood, and Raph grabbed his hand. “You’re not asking.”

After the S1 finale Leo does not come out of the wreckage like he originally does. Raph is lost because now he has to be the one to step up, but he can't find himself too. Until that night theres a crash in the lair and a familiar shadow is coming back home.
