She stared at the bandages, now slightly out of place by her pulling, and the slivers of exposed skin beneath: dark, purpling grey with a cracked-stone texture. Flashes of injuries and maladies skittered across her mind—nothing matched what she saw in him.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” she said with an indicating nod.
His smile turned wry. “Believe me, the damage there has already been done. But perhaps you’re right, and this will be better.” He swapped one hand for the other. A moment’s hesitation, then she accepted. His touch was warm. His skin more worn, more lived-in, than what she’d expected from a study-bound wizard. She wondered, dimly, what he felt in her hand. If the illusion would hold true under such direct connection, and what would happen if he realized who she truly was. But then his hand was gone and her wondering went with it. It didn’t matter. They wouldn’t be together long.

Summary
Cyrodiil is saved; Mehrunes Dagon sealed in Oblivion forever. The dragon fires no longer need to stay lit and the last Septim is dead. Diana is praised as a hero, bards singing songs regaling her tale, but victory tastes bitter and Diana runs from it all. They say she’d be seen on occasion, pacing by the ocean and staring out at the midnight sea.
Then all too sudden, Diana vanishes; the Champion of Cyrodiil lost, but what is a loss for Nirn is a gain for Thedas.
