Martin sank to a knee in front of his drummer girl. Her eyes were red and swollen. Her nose was running. Her bangs were messy, like she’d been crying with her head pressed against her arm. He tilted his head and put his hand out, palm up.
Amanda looked at her white-haired Rowdy, kneeling on this chemically clean but still probably gross public bathroom floor. Sure, she was calm now, but that didn’t mean she was happy.
“This can’t be happening.” Tears still leaked from her eyes, rolling in fat drops down her cheeks.
Martin reached farther, turning his hand and placing it over her empty one. “We got you, drummer girl. Don’t be scared.”
