No, she's not mad that he didn't explain it more clearly and left her thinking he was dead, thanks for asking. She's fine.
Now, if the threats on her life and strange happenings around the Rear Palace could just stop for a little bit, that would be great. Summary
Maomao couldn’t see faces. She knew what they looked like; eyes, noses, mouths - but as a whole, she just… couldn’t comprehend them. They blurred together, got all muddled and made her eyes ache. Her papa couldn't either, so he visualized something else instead - board game pieces. That never worked for her though, her salvation coming in the form of a book from her great uncle: a nature encyclopedia. She started seeing flowers instead of faces.
