“That’s the bouncer?” Derek asked, incredulously.

Laura laughed at his expression. “Hey, looks can be deceiving. All the time I’ve been coming here, it’s always been pretty peaceful. I also have a suspicion that everybody keeps the peace because they’re afraid that Stiles will talk them to death if they step out of line.”

Derek shrugged. Who was he to judge? He could scent Stiles from where he was and he smelled human.

“Just think about it though, a human bouncer in a supernatural bar?”

Laura smirked. Derek had the distinct feeling she knew something that he didn’t know. “I’m just sayin’, don’t underestimate him.” she said, cryptically.

    Summary

Shane walked out the Emergency Room doors and braced himself against the cold, pulling his coat tighter around him. He had his hospital bag over his shoulder and a to-go cup from the campus Starbucks clutched in his hand. As he rounded the corner to the abandoned courtyard, the smell of cigarettes eventually let him know he was in the right place.
Ilya was leaning against the hospital’s exterior, looking handsome as ever with a cigarette hanging between his pink lips. He was more settled than when Shane saw him last, now dressed in his civilian attire: a slouchy black sweater and jeans- Shane wanted to bury his face in the cashmere and just breathe him in, somehow missing him even when he’s standing right in front of Shane’s eyes.
Shane pressed the to-go cup into Ilya’s hand and crowded him against the brick, “You shouldn’t be smoking.”
Ilya cracked a crooked smile, “Doctor told me is okay. I have bad day so I can cheat.”
“Oh yeah? Which doctor was that? I happen to know a few.”
    “Me.”

    They find each other.

“Great, I just need some info from you.” Shane flipped to a new page in the order book and pulled out his favorite pen. “What’s your name?”

The man tilted his head, smiling almost indulgently at him. Shane waited patiently, then smiled awkwardly when there was no name forthcoming. “You don’t know?” the man said.

“Your name? No, I don’t– sorry, have we met before?” Shane asked, suddenly embarrassed. He didn't remember seeing this man in the shop before. Oh god, had they gone on a date and he forgot? It had been awhile since he went out with anyone, so it must have been quite a long time ago if that was the case. But Shane was sure he would remember someone who looked and sounded like that.

The man’s smile widened. “I must just have one of those faces,” he said. “My name is Ilya.”

    Summary

Shane always knew he would go there before his wedding. He just knew. It didn’t matter if his alpha would be nice or not, Shane’s first would always be this one.

    ___________

He watched this beautiful face he spent years loving only with his eyes and respectful touches, and now — because he can — Shane licked into his mouth and moved his hips first, encouraging Ilya.

    Their kiss tasted like salt.

    Summary

“I used to be so mad that she was gone sometimes, but it’s okay. I forgive her. I would forgive her every time.”

Something in Yuna’s eyes fractures, like a bird bone under the sole of a shoe. “Your mother is very lucky, then.”

“Yuna,” Ilya says, and he tries very hard to not look at Shane, to not see the unforgiving, enduring hurt in his eyes when he looks over at his mother, so far away from her that he can’t come home, even though he desperately wants to. He looks at Yuna instead, and somehow, even as he braces against the ice-cold concrete and lets the sound of the whistling wind settle in his ears and has been looking at her for a long time now, he finds himself entirely unprepared for familiar Yuna’s eyes will be when she turns her gaze from the distant streetlamp to him. “You’re very lucky too.”

Shane Hollander is a ghost with a comatose body that won't work, unable to move on because his mom won't come visit him. Ilya Rozanov is the only person who can see and hear him, and against all odds, this is still a love story.
