"John found out while the two of you were on your own hunt," Kay begins "he nearly killed me in that Motel room, but then he saw how fast some of the injuries healed and how much it took him to really hurt me."
"Kay, that-" Sam croaks but Kay speaks over him as if he never spoke.
"He told me then and there that I had only one reason for living and that was to make sure you two lived no matter the cost of myself," the boys got paler as she spoke, "you were never to know." Kay laughs bitterly then, "You know those times he would get super drunk and angrier than we've ever seen him?" They nod mutely, "He always waited until the two of you were gone before he would take his anger out on me. He could never bring himself to actually hit the two of you, me though? I wasn't really one of his children, I was a monster and that's all a monster like me was good for and deserved." -

Percy Jackson has survived a lot in the last few years. He should finally be able to take a break, but the Gods never let that happen. Only, the thing is, this time it isn't the Gods from his world that are trying to get to him - instead, they're from a world where they can no longer have children, and they desperately want them. It's weird, being actively sought out by Gods who (for once) don't mean harm, but their interest in his life is even weirder. Especially when he has to confront it himself.
OR: percy is taken by gods from a universe where they can't have demigods, and the magic used to find him also creates a set of books about his life - and each time one of the living demigods are mentioned, they, too, are summoned to meet their alternative parents. (although not every one of them turns up.) they've been planning to find them for a while, and now, they aren't willing to let them go. (he'll figure something out. hopefully.)

Poseidon has, at this point, broken just about every rule in the book. If his younger brother were just a little more observant, he would be in untold amounts of trouble. It's just that if any traits of Poseidon's can be said to be admirable, it's that he is a very devoted father. Yes, he has countless children by countless different women (and men, too). But every single one of those countless children is his, wholly and completely, forever. So when little Percy Jackson is born, Poseidon's first child in decades, the mighty king of the seas finds himself absolutely smitten with this tiny newborn demigod.
