Summary
Maybe it's lonely at the top. Maybe it's lonely hiding. But Dai Yanqi can never regret having to wrap up almost everything that's made up her so that she could play Glory. Never regretted the fact that she would never stand next to her teammates when they won, all so that she could play. Never regretted it but on some days the taste of bitterness in the back of her throat was all too familiar.

Easthies had been thinking about his mentor to be for a considerable amount of time. What child his age didn’t? Several names had immediately come to mind. Masters with sterling reputations. Masters known for producing talented apprentices. Masters any sensible child would be honored to study under. There was also the option of going directly to apprentice with the Knights, an option that he’d carefully considered as well.
Instead Easthies said;
"I wish to study under Master Coco."

Summary
For three hours, he’s at the beach, takes off his socks and hikes Ilyukhina’s dress up, and stands in the water. He left the cane on the shore; it hurts to let his frame bear the brunt of gravity unsupported. The reliable tide, just cool enough to chill him a little, laps at his shins.
He closes his eyes and tries to forget about himself, the familiar ache in his joints and spine. Allows himself to imagine something else.
A different truth, a hypothetical, a thought exercise.
Rocky can't bear to lose Grace. But he can bear to watch Grace wither away from a sickness easily cured by Earth medicine even less.
Grace has to make another choice.
