    Summary

"I do hope you like this gift of mine."

Numbly, Ajax reached out and took the box from Zhongli. He stared at it, hard. He was sure of what was inside, having seen the item numerous times in the game. But there was still a chance it was a different gift.

After all, he was the antagonist destined to be an outcast. Not the protagonist who became the hero of the land.

    Summary

“We’ll save you,” Lumine says as she closes her eyes and raises the blade above her head with two hands wrapped around the hilt. Metal gleams in the light, his own defeated body crumpled over the earth reflected in that silver. “From the monster you have become.”

Childe wakes from a dream, reaching for his throat that is still very much intact, rather than shred to ribbons. Been given a second chance at life, he wants a friendship with Zhongli in hopes for a chance at survival.

He won't die again. Not this time.

    ___

aka "A villain's wants to stab fate in the face" an isekai AU where Childe dies, relives and tries to befriend Zhongli again. But in this time, he catches the eye of the hero.

    Summary

Zhongli slithers around him—actually slithers, tail curling, wings shifting in a way that disturbs the ambient humidity—and Childe realizes he is not allowed to leave. He is, in fact, being hoarded.

“Okay,” he says slowly. “This is, like. A thing, right?”

    Zhongli blinks.

    “A thing?”

“Yeah. Like a dragon thing. Like the part where you—" He gestures vaguely around the den. “—nest and hoard stuff and get unreasonably attached to shiny things and start calling your boyfriend mine in a tone that suggests you’ll level a mountain if someone looks at him funny.”

    Zhongli doesn’t respond.

Instead, the dragon lowers his head, breathes in at Childe’s neck, and growls.

In which bleeding out is less dangerous than flirting while bleeding out in front of a dragon with hoarding problems.

(Or, maybe Childe should stop getting mortally injured in increasingly creative ways if he doesn’t want Zhongli to hoard him like a limited-edition relic with attachment issues.)

    Summary

“He’s seeing that fossil again, isn’t he?” Pierro asks, finally.

“He’s not just seeing him,” the Tsaritsa growls. “He’s writing poetry about him. Sending love letters by crane. Making eye contact.”

Arlecchino snorts. “They’re probably dry-humping under the Dragonspine stars.”

“They are!” she wails. “And I—I have to pretend I’m fine with it.”

    “Are you?”

    “Absolutely not.”

She flings her arm dramatically, icing over the meeting table. “I gave birth to that boy in spirit. I raised him from rage and ruin. And now he’s run off to ride a statue with good cheekbones and no concept of mora awareness.”

Pierro looks pained. “He’s an Archon.”

“Exactly! My Childe pulled an Archon. Do you know how rare that is? How proud I am? How furious?”

    “Tsaritsa, please.”

In which the Tsaritsa learns Childe is dating a boulder.

    Summary

It wasn’t just the horns (which were sharp, curved, and hotter than they should legally be), or the tail (which he might have asked to use once or twice, shut up), or the claws (that traced his ribs with agonizing care).
It was the way Zhongli held him like something fragile. As if the dragon in him was real, but so was the man.

“I am ancient,” Zhongli whispered one night, voice low, curled around Childe in a nest of golden scales and silk sheets. “I am not built to love like mortals do. But I would burn this world if you asked me to.”

Childe blinked. “Okay but like. Let’s not burn things.”

“I could just maim a few people.”

    “No.”

    “A minor geological catastrophe.”

    “Zhongli.”

“I’ll write you a poem instead.”

In which Zhongli forgets how to human and Childe forgets how to breathe.
