Her hands move rapidly this way and that as she recounts something trivial that had happened to her yesterday, and John loves the way Arthur watches her. There is a careful attention in his gaze, a tenderness John had been aware of only abstractly before. Seeing it for himself makes something in John’s chest tighten, unfamiliar and sharp.
