    Summary

Geralt’s eyes go wide as saucers as he takes in the form of the man; he’s easily over two metres tall, his shoulders wide and strong, arms thick as an average man’s thigh. Beneath his too tight, seams visibly straining, creme chemise, dark hair is visible, dusting his strong chest. There’s something about this man, something achingly familiar in the tone of his voice, in the way he hogs his pillow, the way his limbs are strewn about everywhere on the bed, and Geralt wonders who he reminds him of.

    Summary

Jaskier gets jumped by a bunch of bandits, who happen to be so dumb as to stab him with an ancient artifact. When he wakes up, the bandits are slaughtered, and Jaskier has a new hunger. He decides he can't and won't live like this, and searches out a witcher to kill him when he's unsuccessful himself. Of course......he finds Geralt, or does Geralt find him?

    ---000---
When Jaskier wakes up, the light is uncommonly bright to his eyes, and he has to squint against it. He’s not sure he remembers going to sleep the previous night, and briefly accuses himself of gulping down the bottle of Toussainti wine he’d filched from the inn, leaving a few crowns in its place.

He rubs his hands over his face, and realises that as he does so, the strange metallic scent that hangs in the air gets stronger. When he pulls his hands away to look at his palms, he stiffens. There are red stains on the skin, some of it dried and flaking in the creases.

    It’s very definitely not wine.

    Summary

So, Geralt saves the terrorizing for the actual noble lord, and makes himself as unthreatening as possible. Contrary to popular belief, he isn’t a savage, bloodthirsty beast, and he’d rather this boy not be raised under that falsehood - though, it’s likely no matter what Geralt does that he will.

The boy’s voice stutters as he looks up at Geralt, words coming out too fast and heart beating rabbit-fast. “S-sir, Lord Erynd requests your presence.”

Geralt gets a contract in a town called Eristan, but it turns out the only monster there is human.

    Summary

"This is a very simple experiment, bard." Cold blue eyes met Jaskier's. "The Witcher over there? He's dying. There's only one thing that can save him at this point."

Jaskier glanced towards Geralt apprehensively; his head lolled back. If he was conscious, he gave no sign of it.

"I want you to bond him."

Jaskier jerked, staring at the man in horror. "No."

Soul-bonding was intimate, a moment reserved in private between two people who had decided to share every joy and every sorrow. They would feel each other's pain, know if the other was on the brink of death. It was a bond that could only be forged with good intention, with the purest motive. There was no way to undo it. Bonding Geralt would mean surrendering half his soul to the Witcher, to experiencing every pain, and every woe. But worse than that. Witchers didn't have souls. Jaskier would be throwing away the greatest connection he could ever experience, for a man who would never be able to return it. Jaskier was romantic enough to admit that he wanted a romance of the ages, and a bond of certainty.

    Not this.

"Let me make this easier for you: bond him, or I'll kill you."
