Summary
The war is over and the world is celebrating, but Saparata is haunted by the moment of his greatest triumph, the death of Fluixon. Realising his feelings far too late, he is granted a second chance to return to the beginning. But as he sets out to rewrite history, he quickly discovers he isn't the only one who carried his grief back through time.
Thomas had watched his best friend die from a distance, unable to do anything as Flux’s final breath was taken from him. Now, sent back in time he has a chance to keep everyone safe, and properly finish what they’d started. But Saparata’s presence threatens to ruin it all over again.

What happened to them, you didn’t know for sure. But the smell. It’s death, heavy in the air. Every inhale brought the smell of rot, so strong, and so clear. It was soaked into every fabric and every pillow. Emanating not from a human body, but from the toys. The small toys scattered everywhere. Underneath beds, strewn over a table, hanging by their neck. There were hundreds, too many to count. And where they tore, there was no cotton, but blood and viscera that fell from their broken limbs. Splattered across the walls and floor, stained where it had dripped down years ago from the felt rabbit hanging from the ceiling fan.

Saparata stood out to Flux because he looked gentle.
A perpetually chill look that clashed heavily with his Luminaran armor and diamond sword. Matched with snowy white hair, pale skin, and warm grey eyes. He looked more like an angel than a soldier.
Flux sometimes felt his eyes wander to that guard on their breaks. Watching him explore their nest of tunnels, watching him kindly unwrap lunch packs for older miners like he was Mother-fucking Teresa.
“You’re staring.” Thomas points out to Flux.
“Am not!”

Holly this is the new canon for me. Sobbed my F***ing eyes out.
Pacing was 10/10 and somehow managed to make me completely sympathize with the Conspiracy.
This Cemented State as one of my favourite Fandoms and for that it deserves this spot on my personal fanfic hall of fame. -

DONT be discouraged by the title and /reader tag! This masterpiece is incredible. I still to this day (Year and a half after first reading) think about this fic regularly. The world building is unmatched and the absolute heartbreak when things aren't working out.
Not conventional especially in a Newtmas centric fandom, but my god is it worth it for the worldbuilding alone. -
