“Heads up, someone’s coming down from pedes to take a look at our baby Jane Doe.” Dana says, phone tucked between her ear and shoulder. Robby feels his entire body stiffen.
“Oh?” He says, trying to go for casual as he leans up against the desk. He looks up at the glowing board above the two of them, scanning for his patients. “Do we know who?”
Dana levels a look at him as she hangs up the phone, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“The one and only.” She glances over at the black thermos sitting innocently next to them, a bright yellow sticker faded with some age, corners curling, with bold letters saying ‘good job’.
“Ah. Right.”

Summary
A vivid flash of pink in his periphery derails his entire sentence. He turns to his left, following the pop of color.
A young man dressed in soft pink scrubs emerges from the corner, just barely dodging a nurse pushing a loaded cart into the spot he came from.
“Lost pup?” Dana whispers conspiratorially at Robby.
“Looks like it. Wonder what he’s doing down here.”

"The pedes consult for the kid in South 6," he said, aiming for casual and landing somewhere in the vicinity of really fucking obvious. "Do we know who's coming down?"
Dana continued typing. "Someone from pedes."
"Yes, but who from pedes?"
"Does it matter?"
"I'd like to know who I'm working with. For-” Robby waved his hands around. “-continuity purposes." Robby hoped that wasn’t as pathetic as it sounded.

“You know how Robby is always touching and grabbing him? Well, today he hasn’t touched him once, even retracted his hand when he went to do it out of habit.”
“Tsk, girl.”
“That’s it?”
“What do you mean ‘that’s it’? This is serious!”
“Robby stopped touching Huckleberry. So what? That’s a good thing!”

When Dr. Robby asks Dennis to housesit for him while he is away on sabbatical, Dennis isn't sure how to react. Slowly, as days pass and routines settle, the lines between helping out his attending (and crush) and making the house he's watching a home seem to blur.
