Summary
“Your Grace.” Rhaenyra’s voice is cool; she isn’t looking at Alicent the way she did the night before. She looks at her the way she did after the wedding: as if Alicent is a casual acquaintance she doesn’t particularly care about. “To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?”
Alicent takes a deep breath, then begins. “I think we both know why I am here.”
“Do we?” Rhaenyra isn’t just cool now, but ice cold. Alicent thinks she can sense an undercurrent of hurt, somewhere, but it disappears as soon as she notices it. “I certainly don’t know. Lately I never know exactly what will come out of your mouth when you speak to me, although I can assume that it won’t be something pleasant.”
“I apologize for my behavior,” Alicent says stiffly. “I have not been myself lately, and I know that I have hurt you, and embarrassed myself.”
“You’re not embarrassed because you haven’t been yourself,” Rhaenyra says. “You’re embarrassed because you have been acting like yourself, and you don’t like it.”

“Oh, this?” Rhaenyra said. Her usually low voice was soft and highly pitched. As though she was surprised to be accosted, her eyes grew wide. Playing at the innocent child that she never had been, always insolent, always up to something. Slowly, she slid her thumbs between the silk of her dress and the gold chain shimmering around her waist.
Alicent and Rhaenyra have a chat. That's all.

Her protest is half-hearted and weak, and they both know she doesn’t particularly mean it. She and Alicent have fucked in wilder places. But Rhaenyra is somewhat glad of her words, as it gives her the opportunity to lean in, press a searing kiss to her lover’s lips, and whisper—
“Let them.”
—into Alicent’s ear.
It draws a whine from the brunette, one that has Rhaenyra’s mouth drying and her hips bucking, and so she doubles down.
“Let them see. Let them know that you are mine and mine only. Let them watch you squirm on my fingers, fall apart for me.” Alicent groans and Rhaenyra feels feral. “Let the whole of the Realm see who you belong to. You’re mine, Alicent.” She snarls. “You’re mine.”

Alicent’s hand is gentle as it runs through Rhaenyra’s white-blonde hair, pale fingers dragging careful lines through the silver, pressing delicately into her scalp with every pass. The repetitive strokes and the delicious pressure of Alicent’s ministrations are impossibly soothing, threatening to lull Rhaenyra into sleep if she’s not careful. But she won’t. Sleep, that is.
Sleep would mean closing her eyes, and closing her eyes would mean not looking at her lady. And whilst Rhaenyra may be brash, may be rough around the edges, hot-headed like her uncle and stubborn as a mule, she’s never been one to deny herself the pleasure of soft beauty.
