It starts at a gaming table, but grows into so much more. Trust, friendship, sanctuary. And eventually, love.
Three lonely, geeky girls, each struggling with their own problems, find their anchor from each other.
This is a slowburn story with strong slice of life elements, building towards a polytrix relationship. Note the "Slow Burn" tag. It's there for a reason.
The events of the game table play a part in the story, but the main focus is on the growing relationship between our three heroes.

If she was being honest it wasn't just the thought of Mira that was getting her hot and bothered - it was tonight's act. Not that she felt guilty for it. Swooning over a celebrity was fairly normal and it wasn't like anything was going to happen between them, there was nothing personal about it. Zoey wasn't some crazed fangirl - ok she was a little - no - actually a lot, had created countless playlists and dedicated folders of photos in her phone of Rumi.

But, it didn’t matter, Rumi wasn’t going to let this knock her down, not even one bit. She’d worked too hard to pull her life back together, and she wasn’t going to let all of her progress go just because of some hot mean girl.
No, Mira wasn’t going to bother Rumi at all.
Not even a little.
Rumi blinked a few times, feeling blood rush to her cheeks when she realized that she wasn’t hallucinating, and that Zoey had, in fact, asked Rumi to hang out with her.

She is Rumi’s own age, shorter, maybe a year or two her senior. If she were human, she'd be blue-lipped by now, after a whole night out here. But Rumi can see the pinkness of her lips from where they poke out beneath her curls. She can see the calm flutter of her eyelashes, a spiderweb of soft, blue veins on her eyelids.
Rumi drops the bucket. The girl opens her eyes. She has not been asleep, has listened to her approach, and watches her now with eyes dark and wet like soil. Rumi’s hands sting. The girl rises into a crouch. Her skin is moon-spun, bursting with light, and freckled—stars. A girl, but not a girl. A wolfborn.
Celine has told Rumi what she should do if she comes across a wolfborn.
Kill it.
She raises her rifle, aims.
The wolfborn looks up into the barrel, head tilting side to side like a dog. She must not yet know the fear of bullets.
