Summary
I decided to examine the ‘mage life’ because I believe it is not something thoroughly discussed in the depth I'd like to see it done. This story is built up from a developmental perspective of what being a mage means and how the existence of magic affects the Andrastian society. I tried to elaborate on the central characters from an early stage (my lame attempt at a Bildungsroman) so one’s individual view of magic can be understood from a personal level. I focused on three major characters to achieve this scope: A mage (Elizabeth Amell), a person surrounded by magic brought up without oppressive views on it (Alexander Hawke), and someone indoctrinated to chastise magical abilities (Cullen Rutherford).
I adopt a rather medieval view of Thedas, meaning that the current concepts of social equality, morals and ethics are not prevalent. The Circles of Magi are not romanticized Hogwarts-like learning centres, but rather abusive institutions like the Residential Schools. Social stigmas, sexism, prejudice, corruption, violence and abuses common of the medieval era are present in this fanfiction, hence trigger warnings will be set at the beginning of each chapter.

Summary
Heath não gosta da pessoa que ele tem sido. Todas as coisas que as pessoas veem sobre ele talvez sejam irreais, embora ele próprio as tenha mostrado.
Jackson não gosta do quanto ele tem olhado para alguém que ele considera tendo uma personalidade desagradável, embora ele ainda se recorde de alguém que costumava ser diferente.
Heath não gosta das coisas que tem omitido de Jackson, mas não se considera a melhor pessoa para contar - e Holt não parece nem um pouco disposto a ajudar.
Jackson não sabe porque sua mãe não gosta da família de seu pai - a família de Heath - e agora ele também não sabe porque Holt desligou a música e o deixou parado no meio da rua na frente da casa do garoto Elemental tão tarde da noite.
Revelar o que eles nem mesmo sabiam que precisavam dizer não estava nos planos. Ter sentimentos não estava nos planos. Continuar omitindo o que deveria ser dito desde o começo, não estava nos planos.

Summary
Heath doesn't like the person he's been. All the things people see about him may be unreal, even though he himself showed them.
Jackson doesn't like how much he has looked at someone he considers to have an unpleasant personality, although he still remembers someone who used to be different.
Heath doesn't like the things he's been withholding from Jackson, but he doesn't consider himself the best person to tell—and Holt doesn't seem the least bit willing to help.
Jackson doesn't know why his mother doesn't like his father's family - Heath's family - and now he also doesn't know why Holt turned off the music and left him standing in the middle of the street in front of the Elemental boy's house so late at night.
Revealing what they didn't even know they needed to say wasn't in the plans. Having feelings wasn't in the plans. Continuing to omit what should have been said from the beginning was not in the plans.
